About Us
Hi, I’m Joy, and I have been teaching for 15 years.
I did not think I would make it beyond the 5 year mark.
Teaching is stressful, intrusive on your time and exhausting.
I have had great experiences and terrible experiences in the profession.
I have worked for supportive leaders, strong leaders, leaders with no idea and bullies.
I have gone from looking for a way out of the profession, to regaining my passion and working smart so I can enjoy the job, enjoy working with the children and still prioritise my life.

I know what it’s like to feel alone on the teaching journey, and I know what it’s like to have an impartial and non-judgmental mentor.
So what makes me a good mentor?
I have survived five Ofsted inspections.
I have worked in three schools- two in London and one in Devon.
Mentored ECTs, students and teachers returning to the profession.
Led various year groups of 4 form entry.
Taught in every year group, with a preference for Key Stage 2.
Worked in Year 6 for four years.
Prepared whole school and year group data.
Arranged school trips and taken part in (and survived) residential trips.
Led staff meetings.
Run lunchtime and after school clubs.
Had time off for maternity leave.
Worked both full-time and part-time.

I hope that by sharing my experience with ECTs, you will maintain the strength and momentum that brought you to teaching in the first place - allowing you to continue changing the world one class at a time.
